NON-

Asbestos awareness training is given to employees whose work could foreseeably expose them to asbestos. In particular it should be given to all demolition workers and those workers in the refurbishment, maintenance and allied trades where it is foreseeable that their work will disturb the fabric of the building because asbestos containing materials may become exposed during their work.
Points covered:-
· The properties of asbestos and its effects on health
· The types uses and likely occurrence of asbestos in buildings and plant
· The general procedures to be followed to deal with an emergency (e.g. uncontrolled release of asbestos)
· How to avoid the risks from asbestos, for example for building work (e.g. not breaking into the fabric of a building without first having it checked for asbestos)
This course is delivered as an oral presentation with power point slides and written material.
Training for non-
This training is applicable to those whose work will knowingly disturb asbestos containing
materials, such as maintenance workers and their supervisors. This training would
enable those trained to undertake the work outlined in the HSE publication “Asbestos
Essentials” which would include:-
