“Duty to Manage” – complying with Reg.4 CAR 2006

 

Asbestos “The Duty to Manage” training is for those involved with the management of asbestos in commercial premises. The content is aimed helping the delegates understand exactly what is involved in managing asbestos and complying with regulation 4 of The Control of Asbestos Regulation 2006.

This course is suitable for facilities managers, property managers and health and safety managers.

 

Points covered:-

· The properties of asbestos and its effects on health

· The types uses and likely occurrence of asbestos in buildings and plant

· Current legislation and guidance relating to asbestos

· Licensed and Non-Licensed work and what is the difference?

· Safe removal and repair of asbestos

· Competence assessment of employees and sub-contractors

· Asbestos Surveys; planning; reporting; registers

· Air tests; 4 stage clearance; licenses accreditation and their meaning

· Surveyor competence; sampling and air tests

· Risk Assessments; priority and material assessments; algorithms

· 8 steps to developing an asbestos management plan

· Management options for asbestos containing materials

· Safe systems of Work; training of staff; monitoring contractors, removal companies, surveyors and laboratories

· Emergency procedures

 

The course can be either a one or two day course dependent on the depth required. There will be an examination at the end.
